Digital Photography Degrees

Snap Your Way to Success

Our world is increasingly dominated by images. From billboards to magazine spreads, iconic pictures abound. A digital photography degree could allow you to compete in the global photography marketplace.

Digital Photography Programs

A comprehensive program will include a basic overview on the history of photography, from its inception in the form of camera obscuras to today’s digital age. It will also encompass a wide range of technical skills, from principles of imaging to lighting, color, documentary photography, and relevant computer editing programs.

Some digital photography degree programs offer a business component to prepare graduates to make a living in the art world. This includes creating several portfolios individually tailored to different industries.

Making a Living

Armed with a digital photography degree, you can chose to work in advertising, fashion, journalism, the fine arts, or numerous other fields. Digital photographers are in demand for everything from photographing plants for science textbooks to teaching courses at select high schools. Often, graduates are first employed as assistants in photography labs or to professional photographers.

If you chose not to practice digital photography, you could work as a critic or curator for photography exhibits. Employment rates for photographers are expected to grow beside the occupational average over the next few years.
